"The Bit - Straight from the horse's mouth"

Meet Maude & Fox

"From little acorns do mighty oaks grow"

Growing from an initial desire to see, wear and produce 'less manly clothes for ladies and more quirky country clothing for both men and women', comes the eclectic collection of country clothing from Dorset based Maude & Fox. A patriotic and practical range making urban country chic whilst ensuring attention to detail and supporting British manufacturing.

Tweed with a twist...

A move from London to rural Dorset, and desire to see less manly ladies clothing was the driving force behind the Maude & Fox brand.  With practicality, warmth, shape and design all at the forefront of their brand ethos, and supporting British tweed mills in Yorkshire and Scotland, what's not to love?

A delightfully eccentric range, of passionately patriotic clothing, for both men and women, that is as fashion forward as it is functional.  It is easy to see why this unique brand has grown in prominence over the past few years.

"Our tweed clothing is really popular with town dwellers as it is quite ‘edgy’ - for example our Patriot gilet, Foxy Sports Gilet and the Aspen can be worn equally in town and country settings alike" says brand designer Sue Longmore.  Taking traditional country fabrics such as tweed and giving it a modern twist with either cut, detail or contrast brings a fresh new look to country couture.

With our love of tweed on the rise and numerous brands opting to modernise the country staple, staying unique is key. For a brand to find their own 'style' quickly can be a make or break.  Being seen to set a trend rather than follow and imitate one can be a defining point in any young brand's journey. A point in a journey that the M&F team already seem to have nailed.

"We design everything in house and cut our own patterns and choose our own tweeds - we deliberately avoid copying other tweed brands though obviously have a lot of knowledge of fashion design and history so use our knowledge and trends to influence our designs".

Tough to pick a favourite...

What is your favourite piece in the collection so far?
That’s a tricky one, and something that I get asked a lot! Personally, it’s probably the Nosy Tweed Parka because it suits my particular requirements. Although, the Fur Fly is our bestselling ladies coat due to its flattering tailored fit, it is also a really warm coat. In the Mens collection I love the originality of the new Karl Coat, it looks amazing in the flesh.

Where can we expect to see Maude & Fox in 2019?
We will continue to sell direct to the customer in the UK via our website and shows and will look to expand the knowledge of our brand beyond our current very enthusiastic customer base. We are hoping to add some more colour pop tweed items to our collection, which have now become synonymous with the brand. We will also continue to offer our bespoke services.

Are there any exciting plans for the future that you can disclose?
We have a couple of new and innovative designs in the pipeline, for now these are in the early design phases but there is set to be some really exciting things coming for Maude & Fox in 2019!
