"The Bit - Straight from the horse's mouth"

From Mucking Out To Going Out

With shorter daylight hours on their way, increased hours spent mucking out and changing rugs, we inevitably run short of time over the Winter months.  Saving time where you can is a life saver, whether it is from an extra 5-minutes saved between feeding horses and doing the school run, the quick change between a pre-work ride and a commute or even just country style pieces that you wear at the yard and on the high street.

Comfy Chic...

Whether you're popping into the yard to feed or just a quick ride, the quick change in the winter can be a real winner.  No one wants to be stripping off in a draughty tea room or tack room, so having some key pieces to go from mucking out to going out can be key.

4* trot ups this autumn seem to have been dominated by the Holland Cooper leather look trousers.  Taking that as some fashion inspiration, the Paragon Equestrian Technical Riding Leggings are styled with contrast fabric inserts for unique, sporty and 'on-trend' styling. Made in a four-way stretch technical fabric offering outstanding performance and comfort. This stylish legwear features moisture-wicking properties and excellent breathability with flat seams which add style and durability and prevent rubbing. Great for riding and wearing around the yard, but suitable for a quick change and 'styling up'.

Pop on a a pair of Fairfax & Favor Kensington's to up the level of chic.  The Kensington combines country and city style, featuring a perfect premium suede exterior, stand-out 7cm heel, belted leather adjustable ankle strap and signature buckle.

Everyone loves a comfy hoodie in the winter.  Perfect to hide any unwanted lumps or bumps, warm and snuggly and great for just chucking on over the top of a vest. The Aspen Hoodie from Maude and Fox is a serious head turner in the hoodie stakes.  Made from super luxe angora and lambs wool it brings the essential elements of elegance, warmth and glamour just when you need it most.  Chuck on over the top of some stylish leggings, pop on some heels and you will be hot to trot your way down the high street or into the school gates.

Versatility...

Not only do we want to save a few minutes here and there but with our 'need' to spend every penny on our equestrian friends having a capsule and seasonal wardrobe that ticks the box for both mucking out and going out.

Spotted in the West London Gun Room is the Musto Country Pattern Shirt.  A classic piece from a quality country brand, that can be used to create a contemporary country look.  Just because you are working with horses doesn't mean you can't dress to impress.

The Hector Jumper from Mistamina is a British created slimline crew neck jumper that should feature in every country girl's wardrobe.  Designed by Lady Melissa Percy the jumpers offer a unique and youthful take on ladies outdoor clothing.  Both at home in a field or on the footpaths of town, the Hector Jumper challenges the preconceived misconceptions of female outwear, with an extra touch of comfort.

Albion England literally takes our style from tack room to town.  Well known for their saddle and sporting collection, the lifestyle brand has branched out and now offered a stellar range of handbags and scarves.  The Albion Bucket Bag would feel perfectly at home hanging in the tack room, slung on the front seat of the horse box, or hanging on a bar stool in town.  A beautiful and originally designed bag, effortlessly styled in soft grained leather, with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail that is the hallmark of the Albion brand. This timeless luxury handbag successfully combines sophisticated designer looks with durable practicality.

Accessories...

You can never accessorise too much, and country jewellery brand HiHo Silver have built their brand around 'from mucking out to going out'.  Timeless classics that you never need to take off.  Surely a country girl's wrist isn't complete without a stack of bracelets, and at least one of them needs to be a snaffle of some sort.  Our favourite has to be the Cherry Roller Bracelet from Hiho, once its on there really is no reason to remove it...apart from maybe when in a hot tub, silver isn't as much of a fan as we are!

Belts.  Belts for breeches can also be belts for jeans or dresses, thanks to the master craftsmanship from the team at Mackenzie & George with their Clifton Cinch.  Designed to be worn around the waist, and perfect to create a more hourglass figure with a loose fit or straight cut dress, but equally wearable with breeches.  It really is a must have piece.

A touch of bling and a classic pearl is always good.  Give them an equestrian theme and it makes them all the better. Pegasus Pearl Horseshoe Earrings do just that.  Everyday bling with a classic twist that can be worn both in and out of the saddle.
