Rapidly becoming one of the biggest and best equestrian events in the country, Bolesworth International has a plethora of equestrian superstars in attendance, a vast array of shopping and a programme full to the brim with exciting action to get you hot under the collar.

The Cazenove Capital Eventers Grand Prix

Picture
Eventing legends and rising stars, all are set to line up for the exciting Cazenove Capital Eventing Grand Prix on Thursday evening.

This fast and furious competition will provide a high calibre invitational spectacle as both elite show jumpers and event riders tackle a course of show jumps and feature cross-country fences in a relay format.

Event riders taking part include triple Olympic Gold Medallist, Andrew Hoy for Australia; as well as 2016 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials winner, and fellow Australian Christopher Burton, Cheshire-based Brazilian and Rio Olympian, Carlos Parro and Chinese Olympian, Alex Hua Tian, who won a Silver Medal for China at the 2014 Asian Games.

British rising talent and locally based, Sam Ecroyd joins the line up, as well as exciting 4* event rider Imogen Murray.

Said Simon Ashworth of Cazenove Capital: “We are excited to be supporting the Eventers Grand Prix which will showcase the talent and training of some of the world’s best show jumping and event riders."

Added Carlos Parro: “I am very much looking forward to the Eventing Grand Prix, not only will it be good fun, it will also be a top class competition.”

Show jumpers joining in this fast action-paced competition include speed specialist Harriet Nuttall, local rider Keith Shore, second in last year’s Equerry Grand Prix and the hugely popular and fun-loving Jay Halim.

International Dressage

Picture
Major British and continental dressage stars are heading to this year’s Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show.

The show is set to host a number of prestigious Dressage Viewing Trials for the World Equestrian Games, Young Dressage Horse World Championships and the European Pony Championships as well as the prestigious CDI3* Grand Prix and Freestyle.

Big names to look out for on the dressage front are of course Carl Hester and Britain’s golden girl, Charlotte Dujardin who so enjoyed last year’s show.  Carl and Charlotte will be riding their current stars and potential World Equestrian Games rides, Hawtins Delicato and Mount St John Freestyle.

They will be joined by Michael Eilberg a former winner at the Bolesworth Estate on Woodlander Farouche and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari “Siri” Nariratana Vajiralongkorn from Thailand who is set to compete in the Small Tour classes alongside a number of major dressage stars including London 2012 Olympians Richard Davison and Laura Tomlinson.

Dressage-goers can then watch top horses and riders over the first two official days of the show with the competition focus getting underway on Wednesday, June 13 with the CDI*** Grand Prix, the Small Tour Inter 1 Freestyle Dressage to Music as well as the Viewing Trials for the Young Dressage Horse World Championships at five, six and seven-year-old stages.

On the Thursday classes include the CDI*** Grand Prix Special and CDI*** Grand Prix Freestyle as well as an FEI Pony Team Test, a Viewing Trial for the Pony Europeans later in the year.

A second pony class, the FEI Pony Freestyle to Music Test takes places on the Saturday morning.

International Show Jumping

Showjumping competitors include equestrian ‘Royalty’, John Whitaker, British number one, Ben Maher and leading British women, Laura Renwick and Amanda Derbyshire.

From the USA, showjumpers Laura Kraut, Lauren Hough, Eve Jobs, the daughter of the late Apple founder, Steve Jobs and Jessica Springsteen, the daughter of ‘rock Royals’, Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, will be in action.

Irish riders include last year’s Equerry Bolesworth Grand Prix winner, Anthony Condon, along with Shane Breen and Connor Swail.  Jos Verlooy will compete for Belgium and Brazilian interest will focus on eventer Carlos Parro, a two-time Olympian who will be competing in the Cazenove Capital Eventing Grand Prix.

Bolesworth president, Nina Barbour said: “We are proud to have some of the world’s top riders with us again at Bolesworth.  We are always trying to stage the best in traditional show jumping alongside new innovations for the 21st Century and it’s terrific that some of the biggest names in the sport like what we’re doing.

“We also like to think that Bolesworth is a great day out and for 2018, we have the best programme of family fun and entertainment that we’ve ever had.  We have a great team at Bolesworth and we’re all passionate about bringing our sport to the widest possible audience.”

Non-equestrian fun

Bolesworth is the key event in the Cheshire summer social calendar and a great excuse to put on the glitz, glamour and gladrags. A celebrity judge will choose the best dressed show-goer and prizes will include a £1000 outfit from the Ian Stuart collection, courtesy of Adele Louise Bridal.

Every day includes evening entertainment, including Freestyle Motorcross, Polo Demonstration, the Bentley Ride & Drive and riders facing the huge Puissance wall.  Music also features on the bill, with Ibiza Classics at Club Boles and Rick Parfitt Junior and his band rocking on Saturday night.

Bolesworth has a shopping village, selling everything from diamonds to designer shirts and the Fine Food and Lifestyle Marquee celebrates local produce and gifts.

For families with children, Bolesworth has pony rides, exotic animals, crazy golf, an assault course and the ever-popular Bolesworth Dog Show.
