The Spectator Style Guide: The Badminton Edit

Your tickets have arrived, the accommodation is all booked and you are looking forward to visiting the eventing spectacle that is the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials. However a question still remains. What on earth do you wear? We are on hand to provide some outfit ideas for each of the 4* test days at Badminton...…

By Aurora Cotten-McKean

Dressage Day...

Picture
Dressage. Just the word conjures up images of elegance and precision. The first of the 4* tests at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, dressage day is the perfect time to show off those sartorial credentials.

With clean lines, beautiful tailoring and a beautiful soft brown hue with gorgeous detailing, the Holland Cooper Chelsea Coat in Herringbone is the perfect choice to stand out on dressage day.  Pair with skinny jeans, loafers and a tailored coat for a stylish and chic look to stand out. Alternatively, if the sun is shining, why not pair with a floaty floral print dress, perfect for watching the stars in action in the arena, and perusing the shopping village.

Cross Country Day...

Picture
Cross Country day. The day that everything changes and make or break for many combinations. This is where leaders falter, and those perhaps in the middle of the pack can have the round of their lives and have 4* glory once again in their grasp.

The second day of elite competition, it is all about getting out there and walking the course, watching the action unfold right in front of your eyes as you position yourself by those key fences on the course, perhaps with a glass of champagne in your hand.

We love the Barley Cape from Evemy and Evemy, with its understated design and universal appeal, whether the sun is shining or the heavens open, you are sure to look chic when walking the course. Pair with jeans and boots for a practical look whilst striding out, or a tailored tweed skirt and crisp shirt for a more glamorous look when gracing the members’ enclosure.

Of course, an outfit isn’t an outfit without some truly beautiful footwear and we love the Heeled Regina Boot from Fairfax and Favor in a mahogany leather finish. Whether teamed with a tweed miniskirt, jeans or a tailored shirt dress, these boots will walk you around the course in comfort and style.

Showjumping Day...

Picture

Showjumping Sunday. The final day of competition at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials and the final hurdle before the winner is crowned. The grandstands fill with eventing enthusiasts, anxiously awaiting the culmination of this elite event, wondering who will do just enough to take the glory.

The Talulah Lace Shirt Dress from Henry Hunt is our perfect pick for Showjumping day at Badminton.

With a classic silhouette, sure to take you from day to night, simple tailoring and a flattering length, you are sure to stand out in the grandstand in this beautiful dress. Pair with colour block heels for a nod to showjumping bling, or cover up with a pashmina and flat Chelsea boots for a more understated look.

At the end of the day, the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials are a perfect opportunity to display those sartorial credentials, yet as long as you are comfortable, and enjoy yourself, all that matters is that you are at the heart of eventing, in Gloucestershire, and having the time of your life.
